Introduction

Hello, my first post is just going to be a short introduction. I will be posting a link to my other blog which contains some of my old digital work.

I used to admire the work of industry professionals when I was 15, as I sat drawing shitty fantasy art with awful proportions, wishing I was 'that awesome concept artist who everyone admires'. I got a tablet and taught myself some basics with painter and Photoshop, but art was never serious to me.

I originally wanted to study something in biology, and studied that as well as art way back in a levels. I finished my exams and sat at home all summer with a sketchbook.  I found the only thing I did in my spare time,(which was all the time) was draw. I drew and drew all summer, and on results day, realized I sucked at biology, which lead me to pursue what I really enjoyed.
The foundation course I attended afterwards really frustrated me. I was put in a crowded studio with barely any space in which I could work, and didn't feel as though I was learning enough. Experimenting with new media and generally just farting around with fun ideas was the purpose of the course, and although this was a very welcome break from academic subjects, I felt as though I was wasting my time. I taught myself from books and online sources the fundamentals of drawing and digital painting, as well as booking myself into some life drawing classes.

After my foundation, I was able to stay home and work in my own little desk space and indulge myself in the pleasures of putting pen to paper and drawing every day. I learnt more by myself than in my foundation and A levels combined!

Digital painting is now what I have the most fun with. I have found that everyone goes through a phase with it where they struggle to adapt to using a tablet, and find that Photoshop inhibits their artistic abilities. Over the last year (as a result of pouring countless, painful hours into it) I think I have overcome the difficulties of digital art, and feel as though it helps better my work, as opposed to making it suffer.

Please tell me what you think of the stuff I post on here, be as harsh as you want with critiques. Thanks for reading!
